Quickly Show/Hide Hidden Files on Mac OS X

// Show hidden files
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles YES

Hold the ‘Option/alt’ key, then right click on the Finder icon in the dock and click Relaunch.

// Hide hidden files
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles NO

Again, hold the ‘Option/alt’ key, then right click on the Finder icon in the dock and click Relaunch.
